More enthusiastic souls for Altertape!

Another very nice review for Altertape’s debut Glasstic Drops, this time from Snoozecontrol. They conclude the following:

Altertape’s Glasstic Drops bring us a colourful variation of styles and excites from start till end, with soothing soundscapes on the one end and gripping jazz sounds on the other. But mostly this debut shows an abundance of experimental extravagances and changes in tempo, making us curious about the future. With this album and this sound they could go anywhere and don’t need to pin themselves down to a single genre. No, Altertape manages to expose us to the wide spectrum of their abilities and make us hopeful for that golden future. Each of the songs is a gem that is directed straight to every emotion in your heart and soul.”

If that doesn’t make you long for the cd release, we don’t know what will.

Enter first review!

Less than two weeks before Altertape releases their debut album Glasstic Drops, and RifRaf has already given them their blessing:

“Jazz meets ambient meets postrock in Flanders Fields’ will from this moment onwards be equal to Altertape. Always with an eye on a relatively breezy accessibility the band around Jonathan Callens (Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat) enthusiastically spins filmic, instrumental melodies. On ‘Snow’ and ‘Halfway’ – reminiscent of Explosions In The Sky and occasionally some Red Sparowes – things turn a tad fiercer, including delayed catharsis. Exciting, playful, varied: remarkable feat, this debut!’

Last Monday Altertape played a mesmerising set at music contest Jonge Wolven during the Ghent Festival. Although we have to wait until Sunday to know whether we managed to convince the jury as well as the attentive audience, you can relive the show with a nice video by AVS East-Flemish Television.
